"Three Steps to Septic System Health"

Workshops Offered for Community Groups

The Fairfield Department of Health is pleased to offer “What you can’t see CAN hurt you -- Three Steps to Septic System Health” workshops free of charge for those homeowners in our county with household septic systems. The one and one half hour workshop lead by a registered sanitarian, gives groups the opportunity to gain skills for maintaining and troubleshooting their septic system.  Covered are topics such as routine maintenance and safety for all kinds of sewage treatment systems; when to call in a professional; and tips for protecting the environment.

Through listening to residents, community leaders and the board of health, these workshops are designed to work with homeowners to maintain clean water for generations to come.  In addition to these workshops, the Fairfield Department of Health partners with residents to provide on-site consulting about issues, and follow up on complaints and concerns.  There is also detailed website educational content for those homeowners who like to receive information in this way.  This content includes listings of approved service providers, pumpers and installers in the area.

To request a workshop for your organization or community, please call 740-652-2800.  Note that a minimum of 25 residents are required to hold these workshops.
